Data virtualization challenges traditional technologies. Organizations have been storing and processing data for decades, but the rate of data generation has substantially grown in the recent years. In addition, many organizations now have data sources that contain sensitive data that cannot be exported into traditional data warehouses. Though, rather moving data from different sources and combining it into a new location, organizations will need a distinct approach that merges data together efficiently. How can organizations face these challenges by enabling data acceleration?

Data transfer work is typically done in ETL (Extract, Transform and Load) tools. Yet, the need to move and edit data between sources and data warehouses has decreased. Organizations are searching for new techniques to that allow them to retrieve their data themselves without any additional costs.

Data virtualization combines two technologies, data federation and analytical database management. By using data virtualization organizations are flexible and scalable. The amount of data processed can be significantly increased, making the use of analytics even more important. Data virtualization does not only provide a view of the data in real time from a variety of systems that are normally very time consuming to integrated, but it also supports a wide variety of uses.
