In the last decade, cloud usage has experienced tremendous growth and our network architectures have changed to suit. As the use of our internal networks has changed, do we still have legacy technologies that are actually providing no value? The firewall is a device to separate two networks of differing levels of trust and provide simplicity and connectivity. But connectivity changes and this impacts the firewall. To respond to change, the firewall has had to be improved or has it come to the end of its logical lifespan and is it holding organisations back from implementing better solutions?
Does the firewall still has a valid place in today’s Internet connected world or has this technology held us back from delivering a better level of security for years? What are the means to escape the firewall trap? And is bringing traffic to controls, rather than controls to the traffic, the answer? The need for security doesn’t go away, regardless of the firewall situation. The functionality of the firewall has evolved as threats have evolved, and in ecosystems where organisations had defined networks, there’s a conflict between the need for security, control, and manageability. How do you keep the focus on reducing risk?
Do you recognize these challenges? If so, you are invited to our interactive Digital Round Table: “Death of the firewall – does it have purpose in 2021?”. This session will be held in English on Thursday 22nd of April from 10h00 to 11h30. During this session we invite you to spar and discuss with peers from other hospitals. We are happy to help you gain new insights and discover opportunities by sharing knowledge and experiences.
Topics:
- Can you trust your internal network?
- Your entire network architecture has changed. Why hasn’t the firewall?
- Is your network just an ‘on-ramp’ to the internet?
- There’s no such thing as zero risk, but how do you keep the focus on reducing risk?
This Digital Round Table is made possible by knowledge partner Zscaler. From their specific expertise and experience with the discussion topics, they are happy to share their knowledge and experiences with you during the substantive discussion.
